  5. hoteliers will be offering more than a bed, bath and Gideon
  6. Bible. Leland Traiman, a registered nurse who treats AIDS
  7. patients, has suggested that the city help combat the spread of
  8. the disease by requiring hotels and motels to equip each guest
  9. room with safe-sex information kits, including condoms. The kits
  10. would also be distributed at some local massage parlors and
  11. saunas. "There could be a sign with each kit saying, THE BIBLE
  12. MAY SAVE YOUR SOUL, BUT THIS WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE," says Traiman.
  13. Some innkeepers fear that guests might find the kits offensive.
  14. Elie Cukierman, owner of the venerable Shattuck Hotel, suggests
  15. an alternative: a sign in each room stating that condoms are
  16. available free, on request.
